M2M technology |
|
M2M (Machine-to-Machine or Machine-to-Mobile or
Mobile-to-Mobile) technology is in the greatest
expansion comparing with other ICT technologies all
over the world in the last few years.
M2M technology is wireless transmission, analysis
and processing of data between variety of device and
mobile clients or computers for the sake of mutual
monitoring and control of functioning and status.
Machines that could be in motion have to be
monitored constantly in order to detect possible
irregularity in their operation and to memorize
permanently data on their operation parameters for
possible analysis later on. In case the irregularity
is detected in machine operation it is necessary to
start adequate procedure in order to alarm some
other system (that could also be in motion) or
person (by SMS) and control the machine as feedback.
M2M technology is in expansion first of all because
wireless communication is performed by the existing,
already developed and practically global
telecommunication infrastructure, i.e. GSM and UMTS
network, mostly by GPRS and EDGE service available
in the most hardly accessible spots. In this
technology "intelligent" devices are used, like GPRS
terminals Spark GP that could be programmed so that
they recognize various conditions of the machines
and react adequately.
Spark GP - M2M device of general purpose
Geneko Spark GP is M2M device of general purpose
which has all necessary characteristics to be used
in M2M applications. This device has been proved
successful in practical use: 60.000 Geneko Spark
terminals are produced and function properly and
they are programmed for turnover control recorded
through fiscal cash registers. Also, in cooperation
with Riello UPS (Aros) Spark is programmed for
monitoring and control of UPS devices. Institute
Mihajlo Pupin from Belgrade uses Spark for control
of gas stations, traffic signalization and other
services in electric power industry, etc.
Geneko Spark GP can be optionally programmed for
various M2M applications by J2ME platform, sticking
to standard CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0. This device can
control 2 series ports and enough analogue and
digital inputs and outputs. Besides, it has also 4
LED diodes, 1 push button and connectors for voice
communication that could be used for interactions
between Spark and certain person.
